Meet Stephen Russell, CPA
Stephen has worked in accounting since 2013 and has focused on tax compliance since 2019. He's a licensed CPA based in the Roaring Fork Valley, and he works with every SR2 client directly. There's no account manager sitting between you and the person preparing your return.
Most of his work is with people who own and work in their own business: single-member LLCs, S-corp owners, real estate agents, law firm partners, and contractors. He also works with people whose personal returns turned complicated through rental property, K-1 income, or income in more than one state. The two subjects he'll talk your ear off about are S-corporations and real estate.
SR2 Accounting opened in 2025. The firm is new. Stephen's experience isn't.
In their words
What clients say
I’ve used Stephen for several years. He is an expert in Tax Preparation, responsive, and dependable. I really appreciate his help and would fully recommend him to anyone else.
Fast work and quick to respond, easy to work with and asked the right questions we didn't know to ask!
Three commitments
How we work
We set out to make working with a CPA more communicative and more transparent than it usually is.
Proactive, not reactive
The decisions that change your tax bill happen during the year. We'd rather price one out with you in September than explain it to you in April.
Open communication
You get plain-language answers and a real response time. If something in your return needs a judgment call, you hear about the call and the reasoning behind it.
Boutique on purpose
A small firm means the person who knows your situation is the person who does the work. It also means we're honest about what we take on.
Four situations
Who we serve
Our clients are owner-operators and investors. Four situations come up most:
Self-employed and S-corp owners
S-corp elections, reasonable salary, self-employment tax, and retirement contributions.
Self-employed and S-corp taxSecond-home owners and high earners
Multi-state residency and K-1 income.
Second-home and high-income tax planning
Why here
Life in the valley
We manage your taxes and accounting so that you can spend more time realizing what the valley has to offer.
The valley economy is its own thing. Seasonal income, short-term rentals, second homes, construction, hospitality, and a lot of people running their own show. Working here every day means we're not learning your situation from a textbook.
